Neighborhood Little Free Library

For my Eagle Scout project, I designed a Book Box, affiliated with "Little Free Library," for a local neighborhood. The library is custom-designed to match the architectural style of the neighborhood's clubhouse and was built with sustainability and structural integrity in mind. The structure's base is made of a synthetic PVC-like material, while the main frame is constructed of vinyl and anti-corrosive wood. Other materials, like shingles, hinges, and handles, are generally weather-resistant.

Project Overview

The library was designed with the architectural style of the clubhouse in mind. Its predominately white color-scheme, supplemented by dark grey and black undertones, served as inspiration to the library's color choices. Beyond this, the sloping nature of the clubhouse's roof exists on the library as well, allowing the structure to exist as an aesthetic complement to the clubhouse's exterior. The overall design of the library was also informed by those of local "Little Free Libraries," but once again, draws primarily from the architecture of its immediate area.
