In this ongoing project, I am attempting to retrofit large cargo ships with a device that reduces the sound emanated from their propellors. The bulk of noise is from the cavitation vortex, and the device investigates the use of destructive interference from Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) to cancel out generated sound. Beyond this, using a nacelle chamber for the technology minimizes the occurrence of ship strikes, negatively affecting ocean life.
